General Dentistry
Comprehensive care to keep your teeth and gums healthy for life.
From routine checkups to preventive treatments. we’ve got your basics covered.
Routine Examination and Preventive Care
Regular dental check-ups twice a year are essential for maintenance of satisfactory oral health.
At Dr. Smiles dental clinic, we provide you with the best dental care through a thorough clinical check, X-Rays and additional investigations, wherever required, followed by a comprehensive treatment.
TEETH CLEANING AND POLISHING
The accumulation of food debris under gums and failure of regular removal of this debris leads to formation of plaque and calculus on tooth surface, eventually causing progressive gum and bone disease. This can be prevented by professional cleaning of teeth, called scaling.
This procedure can help reduce the ‘itchy’ sensation of gums or sensitivity of teeth caused by plaque. In some cases, polishing of teeth is done using an abrasive paste to make your teeth glossy.
FLUORIDE SEALANTS
The outer-most white layer of a tooth, called the Enamel, has a textured surface with several pits and grooves. These are particularly seen in the back teeth called the Molars and Premolars.
Some people, particularly children, have comparatively deeper pits and grooves that act as the perfect environment for housing smaller, invisible particles of food and bacteria. It is harder to clean these areas with a regular toothbrush or floss as these are too narrow for the bristles to fit in — This is where fluoride sealants come in to save the tooth from calculus and caries.
Fluoride sealants are tooth colour material that easily flow into these small crevices and seal the area from food, preventing calculus. Additionally, the fluoride component strengthens the
Enamel from the acids released by bacteria that cause caries.
Teeth Fillings
Noticed a small black or brown spot on your tooth? It may not hurt at first — but if left untreated, it can turn into a cavity causing sensitivity and pain. Cavities are caused by bacteria breaking down the enamel, and they won’t heal on their own.
The only way to stop tooth decay from spreading is with a dental filling.
Depending on the size and location of the cavity, your dentist will choose the right material. The most commonly used is tooth-coloured composite resin, which blends naturally with your teeth and is strong enough for daily chewing.
Remember — saving your natural tooth is always the goal. But an untreated cavity can lead to infection or even tooth loss.
Don’t wait — fill it before it drills deeper!
Root Canal Treatment
Root canal — the name might sound scary, but modern dentistry makes it a smooth and painless procedure.
With the right dose of local anaesthesia and the skilled hands of dental surgens in ORR Dental Clinic, you’re in safe hands for a comfortable and stress-free experience.
Just like a dental filling, an RCT involves removing the infected or decayed part of the tooth, cleaning out the root canals, and sealing it with a strong filling material. This helps save your natural tooth and prevents the need for extraction.
Don’t let fear delay your treatment. Root canals today are quick, safe, and virtually pain-free — and often the best way to stop infection and save your smile.
